What the AJNA is and what it is not.

Advanced Concepts of Esoteric Anatomy for Modern Yogis.

The Ajna is an energy center located precisely at the center of the eyebrows and is one of the most important chakras. A strong Ajna is indicative of mental power, particularly in terms of concentration and the ability to maintain focus towards a goal. When it is united and in harmony with the base center of the spine, which is the source of physical power and perseverance in action or the ability to maintain commitment towards a goal, the individual manifests the virtue of universal discipline, which can be defined as persistence of focus combined with persistence of effort.

Completing what we call the objective triangle is the center at the navel, which is the seat of vitality and the charging point for the body’s vitality. This center governs instinctive intelligence, agility, and timing. When these three centers—base, navel, and Ajna—are harmonious and powerful, the physical body is strong and agile, the person is quick, impactful, and disciplined.

In martial arts, we train these three centers to strengthen “the energy of our body.” After just a few sessions, the bones and muscles vibrate with energy, which is an incredible sensation. Many places on the internet, without knowing what they are talking about, refer to this center as “the third eye,” but I will explain in future articles that the Ajna is just one of the centers that “assemble the third eye,” a very powerful spiritual tool.

The Ajna is not the third eye, but it is essential because it is one of the centers that make up the virtue of universal discipline in humans. In the next article, we will recap something about this center but will focus on what the third eye is and why it is considered one of the most powerful esoteric tools available to us.
